The community in Brockweir took action and purchased what had been their local pub. They wanted somewhere they could meet and socialise - just like another and very local community in Nympsfield.

Nick Ash - of community initiative Sustain Wiltshire, based near Bassett - says, "The people have the power - but they haven't used it - YET". Well, perhaps we're going to see changes in this - and some action!

There was always more than a hint this Community Inspired Project had at least one mystery donor backing it. Now we learn who's behind the community. Well done sir! We'd like more like you please.

What a great addition to the town this will be. This is another case of people - not corporates or gov't - taking action to make something great happen. This project started in Stroud - so where will it go next?

It's truly great news for The Long Table and the people of Stroud and area. And this month it's a double whammy! The Long Table get to keep their base at Brimscombe and now they're about to open in Ciren.

The Long Table of Brimscombe nears the opening of its new place in Ciren. Ciren is not a replacement for Brimscombe - with residency issues to solve - but a brand new addition. Will North shows us round.

It's just magical when the community rises up to take charge of local life. And here again - in Brimscombe - exactly that is happening. Money is sought to create a community farm and garden.

This sounds so great - the community steps up to take a hand in shaping our communities in the way only communities can. Don't we need more people like these people - and more projects like these?

Moving this fantastic expression of community life won't be easy! Founder Tom Herbert - a baker by trade, a traveller and author - started the venture 3 yrs ago and was moving into its stride before the news.

This is one change that is highly welcome for our high street. New jobs are coming for the ex-department store, thanks to £75k from the Shared Prosperity Fund. We need to see more of this in every town.
